Contactless payments without PIN

Contactless payments up to 25 EUR without PIN entering

From 18 October 2019 on, the ceiling limit for a single payment with Visa and Mastercard contactless cards will be 25 EUR instead of the previous 15 EUR.

This means that for payments of up to 24.99 EUR you will no longer need to enter your PIN at POS terminals at points of sale. Paying with contactless cards will now be even faster and easier.

From now on entering your PIN will only be necessary for confirmation of contactless payments of over 25 EUR (and exceptionally for contactless payments of under 25 EUR when so required by the POS terminal).

In order to provide additional security for contactless card use, banks and savings banks set an additional limit at the time of first introduction of contactless cards already for all cards that provide contactless payment. This amount is determined as the sum of consecutive contactless payments made without entering a PIN.

With our bank, this limit is set at 150 EUR. This means that when you reach the total sum of previous consecutive contactless payments without entering a PIN at 150 EUR, for your next payment you will need to enter your PIN at the POS terminal at the point of sale, even if your payment amount is under 25 EUR.
